Glass House Agreement

GLASS HOUSE AGREEMENT

As Christian leaders who are in places of responsibility in the church, we are required to be examples in faith, conduct, and purity. We have an obligation, when presenting Christ to students, to live godly lives and be “above reproach,” acknowledging the “glass house” we live in.

As a D-Group Leader we ask that you…

  • Have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and been baptized

  • Have been at Shepherd Church for at least 6 months

  • Commit to attending Shepherd Church services each weekend, on campus

  • Commit to regularly (at least once a month) meeting with other believers outside of weekend services (Life Groups, Mentorship, etc.)

  • Commit to actively pursuing God through spiritual disciplines (reading your Bible, prayer, etc.)

  • Not date or create an inappropriate emotional attachment with any teenager

  • Not minister to the opposite sex one-on-one (which includes driving home members of the opposite sex)

  • Not be involved in dating or advocating that a youth date a non-Christian

  • (If single) Not be or have been involved in a sexual relationship or live with a member of the opposite sex within the last twelve months (please make us aware of this if it has been a struggle at any point in the past)

  • (If married) Not be or have been involved in a sexual or inappropriate emotional relationship with anyone outside of your spouse within the last two years (please make us aware of this if it has been a struggle at any point in the past)

  • Commit to personal purity by not viewing pornographic or explicit materials. If that is a current area of struggle, we ask that you do not lead until you are experiencing significant freedom from this

  • If legal, not consume alcohol to the point of being unable to drive or to the point of it being illegal for you to drive yourself home

  • Not abuse or habitually use legal drugs

  • Not have been arrested for or convicted of an alcohol or drug related offense in the past two years (please make us aware of this if it has been a struggle at any point in the past)

  • Not use or have used any illegal substances during the last two years (please make us aware of this if it has been a struggle at any point in the past)

  • Maintain proper speech habits both in person and on social media* platforms (avoiding profanity, gossip, slander, and use of God’s name in vain, etc.)

  • Maintain a modest and pure appearance both in person and on social media* platforms (avoiding clothing, pictures, or posts of a sexual nature)

*Including reposts and first-person posts on public and private accounts as well as responses and likes to others' posts
